On My Way.

Hey. I hope that while you are reading this, there's no judgement. I write to express. And that's all there is to this. I hope that somewhere in this heap of words you'll find something. We're all just finding ourselves out there, but we needn't do it alone.
I wish you love.

The shift.
So it's been almost a year since I last wrote. I won't say anything life changing, paradigm shifting has happened. But I have most definitely grown. I am growing and will still continue struggling to grow, to fit the mould I am still trying to shape. I want to write about it all, but it's become difficult to string words together to reflect my realities. It's been too long. I will try. I just know that I am incredibly blessed to have made it thus far, and I want to keep going. So many things mean so differently now, and that scares me but drives me too in a way I cannot understand. I want to venture out, try new things and move on. Everything is cluttered but I am slowly putting pieces together.

It is but a process. I am but the product of my own journey. And I am grateful to you who listen, read and cross your fingers (pray) for me.

Here we go again.

Found this in Drafts. Am I still struggling with this?
A friend told me that I should leave it all behind, because I have a new life here and life back Home will always be there. But sometimes I wonder if it is me not wanting to look Change in the eye, or is it that I'm trying not to make the same mistakes, to let people just slip away and be all right with it.

It feels like this. It feels like you have words dying to escape from you, words that you're too scared to pen down because you know they are true. They are laced with your own desires and ambition which are probably too big for your own good. Yet you feel them too much and this fuels these words. You know that when the words come you are probably going to let them come out anyway. Because you think that this is your gift to the world and that this would somehow make a difference to someone somewhere. You dont think much about these words, you let them rush out of you, in no order whatsoever. You let them say what they want to say, never what you want to say. You let them own you and then torture you but you also realise that these words built you up (but they crush you first). You hear these words and you are ashamed but you dont want to take them back because you know that they are meant to be heard. You feel like you've been betrayed and misunderstood but you know that they are mere reflections of you. These words, they are you. They are every thought you've conceived, every secret you've concealed, every feeling you've suppressed and every intention you've decided to not put into action.

It feels like this. You speak big words and then you hear them and then you feel inadequate. Because you know words are never enough just like how you are never going to be enough.

It doesnt feel better that most of my words are about you.

---
It's midnight and it's raining (typical Manchester weather). I am confused and overwhelmed by unecessary and irrelevant emotions. I really dont know who/what/why/where/how am I writing (about). I just needed to. Ignore my bad grammar and incoherence. I can't be bothered. CANT I JUST BE NUMB.

Rant over. Back to contract.

Hello world.
Hello everyone. So i havent been writing anything for such a long time. I havent even been writing anything in my head. I am all blanked out.

Yet, i dont want to lose this part of me in the Internet. This place has been solace for such a long time, and to have something as a testament of the days I've lived through and the growth, this is precious.

So a little update on what's been happening:

  1. I've been teaching! I'm currently teaching primary school kids. I started out thinking this would be easy because I generally do really well with kids but lo and behold, I was wrong. Being a teacher is difficult and it's not just the marking, it's the kids. I'm still really determined to not punish anyone, but by the way things are going, it certainly seems that I need to be scarier. Nonetheless the experience is rewarding, though I'm sure I'd probably not be a teacher, not at this level anyway. To see my students differentiating "an amount of" from "a number of" does make one feel somewhat happy and proud. Well, here's to another month (or more?) of teaching. The pay is quite good given the amount of hours I'm putting in and the incredible internet speed accessible, so maybe I'll stay for a little while longer.
  2. Well, despite the job. I've been pretty much slacking at home. Going to start my driving lessons and hopefully by the end of 2 months, I'll be driving! Taking my first ride on a car with Joshua just made me felt different and all grown up. (We ARE all grown up, see point 3 ) Speaking of learning, also taking French classes out of interest. It is more difficult than I thought it would be, and the perception that it's similar to English is total bull because French is so specific, there are so many linguistic rules! Back to the point, I'm kind of enjoying myself at home. Good food, good people, and the license to be lazy all day long.
  3. Caught up also with friends, from the gang from primary school to even Matthew, it all seems surreal. One moment we're 10 years old and playing catch around the school compound and then 10 years later here we are going off to different places, chasing our own dreams. The feeling is so alien, like we (I) dont  fit in anywhere at all, like we're (i'm) all just a work in progress. (It could be just me.) Also made me realise how temporary everything is, people come people go, and sometimes, when we're really lucky, we might just meet again. (Yet, when this happens, we no longer know what to say/do.)
  4. Wondered who I really am actually, because I always catch myself drifting in and out of character. What character am I anyway? I feel like I might just be playing multiple roles and can't decide which one I really love enough to stick through with it. I sound senile.
  5. Parents been mentioning about university and the a-level results. The mention of "sitting down and talk about where I want to go" keep resurfacing. I think they dont understand that I know what I want to do and just refuse to try to. It's like they dont hear me at all, like they only see the mould that they assume I should fit perfectly in. And more honestly, I'm tired of talking/listening about it. I'll just take it as it comes. The recurring dreams of my Alevel Certificate have been unnerving enough.
  6. Birthday's in 3 days and Valentine's in 5. Getting older by the year but I dont feel wiser. Maybe a little more jaded and a little more empty. When I was younger I took pride in my youth, but now that it's slowly slipping away, I feel kind of powerless. But there's a few more 19 years to come (I hope), and I know things will work itself out.
  7. I think I miss Singapore/School/Some People.
So that was random word vomit on what's been happening. I'm sorry if I sound a little sad or anything, I assure you I'm not! Probably just being overly pensive.

This post probably made up for the mandatory inspiring post I usually post at the start of every year, albeit less optimistic.

I will try my best to write more. I miss writing, I miss feeling strongly.

So you've wandered long enough, time to come home and tell me everything.

Word Vomit X
Truth be told, I am still helplessly intertwined with all this expectations that will never become (us).

But i am coping. I am currently completing my SEA essay and everything is getting on track. I try to push away everything negative because a joyful me is a productive me. I am getting there and Im happy with the pace. I should be relatively sane before prelims. What is your plan, God? Reassure this heart and teach this mind how to understand. I am drawing everything from You. These dreams want to mean something.

The past week was eventful, from Harry Potter, Tiff and Co, CoC in the hostel, the School Cat, Scholarship Fair and Anorexic Girl, I know that I really just need to be myself and continue in Faith. There really isnt anything else to do. This week also been a rush, with theft cases night after night in the hostel, the starting of serious numbers of consultations,  and this chronic backache. Woah, that was quite a mouthful.

I've been waiting a while for all this to come. And now it's here, I am excited. I just wish you were here, sometimes. (I am still convinced, sometimes.) I will survive.

Family's coming down during the weekend. Pray that this weekend would be a productive one. Studying in school/library in the morning, Dad's going to pick me up and then we'll head for the doctor's appointment later in the evening and then BBQ dinner with Delorez leaving the rest of the time for family. I've been missing home with all the durian and the lonely walks back to the hostel. So the visit will be good for me.

Doctors appointment on Saturday because of the tailbone/backaches. I thought I had bid the backaches goodbye, but now it's primary school all over again. I'll just pray for Healing and hope that the GP would just reassure me that everything's all right.

I should continue with my essay now. I am finally getting History. Chemistry seems to be working better also. I just need to extend my attention span. And all will be good.

Havent been here for a while, so many things to say. I need more time.

Productivity shot up today. I've already kind of covered Permutations and Combinations, Electrochemistry and   Chemical Equilibrium. I think I will run through equilibrium again after I finish ASEAN and maybe go through Complex numbers again. [I sound very comfortable and I actually am, studying at my own pace is okay.] Physics is still untouched though. But then again, I haven't planned for tomorrow.

I think I am an individual. I realised how differently things always seem to me and how I always feel too much, read too deeply into the chaos around me is actually just me being me. Today I had this long monologue in my head and I didnt even realise that I was talking to myself until I got stuck finding the number of arrangements one could have if I were to seat 4 families at a dining table of 10 (yes, P&C makes a lot more sense now).

I think that as I grow older, I get better with dealing with myself, looking into the mirror and feel comfortable. Most of the time it is the reflection in times of solitude that helps us really see the truth. It's almost like taking steps back and, voila, the bigger picture presents itself. Beautiful.

Growing up has made me grow bigger within. It's okay being alone.

I want to write about you, but the words would never come. No song would ever have the right tune. I paint pictures of us in my head. And then I shut it out because I refuse to be disappointed if this was all just made in my head.

I just don't know if this is really happening, and I'm too afraid to find out that I could just easily be "that other girl who talks to you".

Gravity, stay the hell away from me.
Really, this is the only place that is keeping me sane. Here I am licensed to be as self obsessed as I want to be, I can wallow in self pity and be pathetic. And then I get back up from here and just be awesome in real life. All is good, i know right.

I think I used up all my "happy days" for the month/year, because it's been getting really bad. The week already started out quite roughly. I am feeling too much for a friend, constantly worried for what will happen to him/her if I turn out to be right. I'm really hoping I'm wrong, that I would eat my own words. But for now, I know there's really nothing I can do, but I hope you'd know that if it really doesnt work out in the end, I'd be the friend who would still be there for you in the middle of the night. Because you were there for me first. Nothing I hope more for than for you to know this.

Again I'm struggling with my weight. I know it's petty and stupid. And I am aware of how eating disorders kill girls/boys from the inside out. I'm keeping it together, but there has always been a constant fear in me where I would one day just give in and just stop eating altogether. It is especially hard since when i look at myself in the mirror, the thought "Your weight, that's probably why..." just echoes in my head. It suddenly becomes the reason for everything. I know it's unhealthy and Im trying my best to snap out of it. But it's difficult and most of the time I end up eating some more to get over it. Thus begins the vicious cycle. Being surrounded by all these skinny girls isnt helping at all either. I've already judged myself before anyone else does. It disgusts me all the time when I think about it, but I cannot deny how real all the emotions within me are. And most of the time, it scares me.

I am determined to study in school after classes now. I really dont mind sitting in the void deck, occupying the whole bench alone. Trying to convince Sally and Meggi to make this a long time thing. School after hours is exceptionally calming, maybe the absence of people does make the entire place less suffocating. Don't get me wrong, I love my school, and the people I've met there. The teachers are brilliant and are always there for you and my classmates are beyond supportive. But with people comes expectations, and I am already barely coping with my own. Besides, the delusion that you're the only one in the world studying does motivate you a little.

Sometimes I'm so overwhelmed with everything right now, i cannot breathe, literally. It feels like a relapse, really. But, I'm not giving in. The battle is far from over, and I cannot trample and fall now. How unglam. I just need to clear midyears and then the June holidays would be a lot of studying at my own pace, which would be good. It's going to be okay. I have faith, I have faith, I have faith.

I'm out of form I know. Retreat this weekend, and I'm really not prepared. I am so dry. How do I live this for You when I am struggling to keep up? Send someone.Because after all this time, you're still the only person I want to run home to when life doesnt make sense. But you arent here anymore.

-----------------------------------------------------------

And that was my attempt to get everything out of my system, because sleeping doesnt help anymore, neither does eating. Writing this with so much burden, really. But i think now I can go do my physics and math tutorials in peace.

I'm usually apprehensive about posting things that are too personal, but i need this for myself. So, I'd really be appreciative if you wouldnt mention this to me, I'd most probably wont want to talk about it.

Sore throats acting up again. I cant swallow without feeling the pain. I will drown myself in water and make sure I dont fall sick.

word vomit 10
  • Generally a happy gal today! Free cone day! :) Heee. Free icecream! Queued for an hour, but I guess it was really worth it.
  • I really hate it when I get my periods, my forehead breaks out and my hair dies.
  • I have this impulse to cut my hair really short.
  • I've been managing my homework very well recently. My tutorials, all done. Like a boss.
If I take anything away from today is that real joy comes in small packages, sometimes we just need to cherish the small things in life. Because when you look closer, you'd be surprise of how much of a happy girl it can make you. I thank God for all the little things in my life, and I thank Him for helping see these little things.

Today, I saw something that would've stirred a different reaction from me before. But now that I am waiting and hoping, I feel so encouraged. 'Cos one day I'll be there as well.

Word Vomit 8
Today was the day I got an A for Project Work. I know I'd have been absolutely devastated if i didn't get that distinction but the moment I knew i did get it, I wasnt exactly euphoric. I guess maybe the day that I climbed the school gate and handed in our completed Written Report, I kind of knew what was done was done. But thank God for the entire PW experience. I would say, being blessed with awesome groupmates, my experience was a very pleasant one. I've got to know Megumi and Sally so much better and that means a lot to me, because my J2 life would be so different and less funny if it werent for them. :)

After school met with Joshua at Vivocity. Somethings just never do change, being friends since we were cute and fluffy (we were 7 then) found us talking a lot of nonsense. ZOMG, being with Joshua made me realise how long I havent been seeing my 6G classmates and how much I miss them. :( JOSHUA HAS PIERCINGS AND I HAVE NONE. I jealous.

The ride home from Bedok was really nice, took a very long bus ride on 66. Listened to "Gotta Have You" by The Weepies for the whole hour. Stumbled again on "Ashes and Wine" and put that on replay for a while as well.

Generally, today was an okay day. To the people who didnt do as well for PW, don't give up. Because according to Nianci's 422nd law, when you dont like feeling someway (disappointed in this case), promise yourself to never let yourself feel that way again. Always works.

Now here's the juicy bits, the part about you.
I'm convinced I made you up in my head because the more I think of you, the more I doubt. Thing is, I was too caught up in you, it's kind of difficult to pull away now. For now, I'll just watch from afar.

Skipping word vomit for today because I am too engrossed in watching Sarah Kay's spoken poetry with Yeewern. She's so pretty and talented and full of soul. :) I wanna grow up to be like her. *dreaaaam.

Word Vomit 6
My best pervert face, I hope this makes your day. HUAHUAHUA.

Short school day today, thus I am a happier girl! I got my phone back, the uncle so honest, he didnt even try to guess my password, which is super easy to guess (if you think like i do). After lessons headed to Plaza Sing  with Zining to get my new pencil box. It really just is a box, but my, it's so much easier now to get my stationery. So 2 dollars well spent. :) Oh, we got something for Rachel also. But that would be another story to tell, when the plan works. Giggling already just thinking about it. I've been giggling to myself a lot recently, I'm taken aback also. Tsk tsk.

Really just talked nonsense the whole time, which was good, I'm sure my brain does not have the capacity to think anymore. Felt a little weird being in uniform though. I dont like people looking at me. Especially when I cant stop laughing. Lemme just say that a guinea pig regardless of the amount of hair it has on its back is just as cute. The bald guinea pig was so cute i could've died (fine, not really). But nonetheless, I am kidnapping one once Alevels are over. Mom and dad, my childhood is not complete without a pet. So I'm making the most out of my last two years before adulthood kicks in. I am so determined. There will be guinea pig hair on the house floor by the end of this year.

So i just finished my math, the numbers are getting less complex now. Jefferey is a genius. Like seriously, there's not one math question he cannot do! Consultation tomorrow, so Madam will be joining the Save Nianci's Failing Maths League. HOHOHO. Math is going to be very okay. YES YES YES.

So today makes a happy day, I dont have the answers to the bigger questions yet, but it takes these little steps to get there. And I am on my way.

You again. It'd be really nice if you'd stick around. :)

Word Vomit 5
Hello. So today was okay. Usual Tuesday Rush. Rugby during PE was so fun I basically just screamed/laughed my butt off. HAWHAW. History tutorial before that also found me less clueless because I was so pro i finished reading through the AI notes and actually understood the question. I want the As so badly, I'd almost do anything. Had a bit of sleep during the breaks which was good because I'm less inclined to fall asleep now, I think my 6 hour sleep plan is working. This positivity must continue.

Didnt have time to think much today, keeping myself busy with work. So all is good.

Okay, i dont know how to slip this in. But just a thought I had today which I want to not deal with because I think i wont survive.Sometimes I think I dont matter where it matters. I'm so dispensable, no?

But today in general was a good day. Snippets of giggles here and there and much more comfort going through school. Still can't wait for the weekend though. Nothing planned, but sleep. :)

Up is where we go from here.

Oh, how could I miss this? I left my phone in the school bus, again. Suffered from withdrawal symptoms all day long.

Word Vomit 4
So today was a typical Monday, with a lot of lessons and very minimal break. Had a lot of sleep during chapel, to deep in sleep i didnt even stand up when the pastor called for dedication. Felt super guilty and thought that it was super awkward if i stood up after I realised i was supposed to.

Things are certainly looking better, with me actually feeling quite excited to study for the AI conflict and me actually understanding Chemistry despite the lecture moving at bullet speed.Seriously, like she covered almost 2 subtopics in an hour. On a side note, apparently I need to shake my scholar brain for me to understand stuff, which entails a lot of nodding and mumbling to self as observed by Liting and Venee. Oh wells, whatever gets me going.

Got mocked like mad during lunch. I AM SO FUGNOGING STRAIGHT OKAY. Me is no lesbian. Enough said. And i just realised i'm super clueless when it comes to the anatomy of the human body. Seriously, my esophagus is in my ear.

Yet, after it all, towards the end of the day. The feeling sunk in again. I am so damn lost. Who in the world am I trying to be? Who on earth am I trying to impress? I dont get it. I'm so inconsistent I don't even understand anymore. Like I'll catch myself doing/thinking/saying something and I'd be so shocked at what I've just do/said/done. What in the world is happening here? I'm so displaced.

Still very confused. Way worse than yesterday. Ahhh, i need to get away from here and care more about the Arab-Israeli Conflict because there are more important things and bigger hurts than you, Nianci.

Word vomit a little earlier because I need to get this out of my system and shut up and study. Less than 7 months to the Alevels.

I need to find myself in London next year.

Word Vomit 3
So today was less mind boggling. More calming, more slow paced. I am slowly but steadily finishing the weekend homework. Which means things are making more sense now.

But it seems like you've decidedly come around, making too many appearances. For now, I really am hoping I'm making you up in my mind. At least it'll be less destructive and I'll end up being less dysfunctional. But I do think of you, nonetheless.

I know I'm being a stoopid girl. Just let me be a birdbrain for another 20 minutes, I promise I'll stop. Tomorrow I'm just going to continuing doing what I'm supposed to do.

No, you havent taken that away from me. I still know I want this, wherever this would land me.

I'm suddenly at a loss of words when I'm intentionally word vomitting about the day. I'll be more constructive from tomorrow onwards.

p.s: It's weird getting information about sex from a guy. Just saying.

I am not high on nothing.
Day 2 of being a little confused. I need to talk to someone about this, but you see, I doubt i'll eventually find the words. Today was okay with the free buffet dinner and all, but the walk after that was very reflective. I realised how weird I am and how hard it is for me to actually fit in, with all the noise and busyness (not mentioning also the stench of alcohol in the air). The light breeze along the Singapore River was comforting though. If only the places we passed by actually played/sung music I liked.

So back to the I've come to a point where I dont know what I want to do, also probably the reason why I am so unmotivated. I kind of miss secondary school where I felt like i was working hard because someone else was fighting hard with me as well. At least then there was some wort of purpose. And now, things are so different. Or maybe it's just me.

Why do we grow up so fast? Why can't we decide later? Why must we always need to know what the next step will be? Why wont someone just tell me what's going to happen already? Sometimes I think I'd be better off without the luxury of watching my life unravel.

You see, so many questions, yet nobody seems to know the answers.

So for now, I just try to keep myself afloat. Hoping one day I'll have somewhere to head for.

This totally feels like word vomit. When I'm all sober, I am going to nosebleed just reading this post.
While we're at it, I think I'm becoming a human ipod, whenever I dont think about anything. It's nice, but it gets odd when I catch myself actually being sucked into the music in my head.

I think I'm going to do daily word vomits. Pack my soul up for the day. I want to go to bed clean and happy.
