On My Way.

Hey. I hope that while you are reading this, there's no judgement. I write to express. And that's all there is to this. I hope that somewhere in this heap of words you'll find something. We're all just finding ourselves out there, but we needn't do it alone.
I wish you love.

Before 2 am
Okay. Let's try to get this posted by 2am.

So, I've survived my first Christmas away from home, and my first uni examinations! Yay I am titanium/bulletproof/all that jazz. The exams went alright, and i hope the results would somehow reflect that. I'm kind of worried for LMS but it's over now and there's nothing I can do, so booyou exams booyou, you are not affecting me.

The new semester has just begun and it's finally feeling like the new year. I think it's going to feel like this from now on. February will be the start of the new year. I have certain things in mind that I'd like to get done this year. Now all I need to do is get my ass off. And I will, I hope. It was nice cleaning my room for the new semester! Moved some stuff around so it feels like there's more space now! Could have a few friends over now with space on the floor for everyone, so that's good. The new year and term looks challenging, but then I am excited! Let's hope this feeling continues and sustains me through the term. I am still incredibly grateful for everything I've received/ all the people I've met/ all the opportunities I've been given. Thank you God.

Just randomly writing cos I'm a bit tipsy+incredibly sleepy. It's like you're on the verge of collapsing but then all these thoughts come to your mind and you'd like to think of them. Delirium. Doesnt help that Kodaline is so damn sad/good at the same time. So like all these emotions/homesickness is getting to me. Speaking of home sickness, I've really thought about where my "home" really was. Sometimes I think Malaysia, but most times I think it's Singapore. And other times I see myself calling Manchester my home. I guess I adapt pretty well, huh. I'm young, I'll figure it out. No pressure.

I'm feeling sleepy. And i bet nothing I wrote above made sense. I'll try harder tomorrow.

Hello world.
Hello everyone. So i havent been writing anything for such a long time. I havent even been writing anything in my head. I am all blanked out.

Yet, i dont want to lose this part of me in the Internet. This place has been solace for such a long time, and to have something as a testament of the days I've lived through and the growth, this is precious.

So a little update on what's been happening:

  1. I've been teaching! I'm currently teaching primary school kids. I started out thinking this would be easy because I generally do really well with kids but lo and behold, I was wrong. Being a teacher is difficult and it's not just the marking, it's the kids. I'm still really determined to not punish anyone, but by the way things are going, it certainly seems that I need to be scarier. Nonetheless the experience is rewarding, though I'm sure I'd probably not be a teacher, not at this level anyway. To see my students differentiating "an amount of" from "a number of" does make one feel somewhat happy and proud. Well, here's to another month (or more?) of teaching. The pay is quite good given the amount of hours I'm putting in and the incredible internet speed accessible, so maybe I'll stay for a little while longer.
  2. Well, despite the job. I've been pretty much slacking at home. Going to start my driving lessons and hopefully by the end of 2 months, I'll be driving! Taking my first ride on a car with Joshua just made me felt different and all grown up. (We ARE all grown up, see point 3 ) Speaking of learning, also taking French classes out of interest. It is more difficult than I thought it would be, and the perception that it's similar to English is total bull because French is so specific, there are so many linguistic rules! Back to the point, I'm kind of enjoying myself at home. Good food, good people, and the license to be lazy all day long.
  3. Caught up also with friends, from the gang from primary school to even Matthew, it all seems surreal. One moment we're 10 years old and playing catch around the school compound and then 10 years later here we are going off to different places, chasing our own dreams. The feeling is so alien, like we (I) dont  fit in anywhere at all, like we're (i'm) all just a work in progress. (It could be just me.) Also made me realise how temporary everything is, people come people go, and sometimes, when we're really lucky, we might just meet again. (Yet, when this happens, we no longer know what to say/do.)
  4. Wondered who I really am actually, because I always catch myself drifting in and out of character. What character am I anyway? I feel like I might just be playing multiple roles and can't decide which one I really love enough to stick through with it. I sound senile.
  5. Parents been mentioning about university and the a-level results. The mention of "sitting down and talk about where I want to go" keep resurfacing. I think they dont understand that I know what I want to do and just refuse to try to. It's like they dont hear me at all, like they only see the mould that they assume I should fit perfectly in. And more honestly, I'm tired of talking/listening about it. I'll just take it as it comes. The recurring dreams of my Alevel Certificate have been unnerving enough.
  6. Birthday's in 3 days and Valentine's in 5. Getting older by the year but I dont feel wiser. Maybe a little more jaded and a little more empty. When I was younger I took pride in my youth, but now that it's slowly slipping away, I feel kind of powerless. But there's a few more 19 years to come (I hope), and I know things will work itself out.
  7. I think I miss Singapore/School/Some People.
So that was random word vomit on what's been happening. I'm sorry if I sound a little sad or anything, I assure you I'm not! Probably just being overly pensive.

This post probably made up for the mandatory inspiring post I usually post at the start of every year, albeit less optimistic.

I will try my best to write more. I miss writing, I miss feeling strongly.

So you've wandered long enough, time to come home and tell me everything.

Have a Little Faith
So all the major papers are done. All that's left is Physics and Chemistry MCQ Papers. ( Yes, they do have the highest percentage of marks allocated. I will drag myself to the library to study, I will.)

I've been pining for this time to come around since the start of the year. And I am grateful. For the past 2 months I've been blessed with the support I hadnt imagined  I'd have. When I doubted, I was reassured, and for someone who has been struggling even after prelims, I think I've come pretty far. So I'll leave the rest to God. Because He will give me the grades that will glorify Him. And above all else, I am eternally grateful for the people I've held close. I really cannot imagine how things would turn out without anyone.

So here we are, the crossroad, the in-between of Here and There. Like I told Rachel the other day as I was packing, it was really overwhelming to be here right now, unsure about How To Get There. Well, hope and pray. We've gone through so much, we're already on our way. Betting on that.

For now I'm just going to have a little faith, sit down, and start planning. But before that, Chuck Bartowski, here I come.

Unsettling
Yesterday I got a letter from SBS and it was a bill. Have I told you about the time my squash racket hit against the glass partition when the bus broke? Yeap, that was what it was about. Apparently they are claiming for damages, 23948023857258109283012938 million years after the incident. WTF. This made me learn how difficult the world out there is, and how unprepared I am. How really people out there really are out to get you. It wasnt even my fault. THE BUS BROKE, THE UNCLE EVEN GAVE ME A FREE RIDE AFTER THAT. But no. So I called Dad, told him and cried a little. It was overwhelming okay, excuse me for the tears. It is quite a sum of money, so I'm standing my ground. I am worried though. It is a lot of trouble and Dad even mentioned about seeking legal advice. All this for something insurance should have covered. I really am affected by it, because I hadn't known that this would happen. The bus uncle reassured me that it would be alright. I am gullible. See, I am not prepared for the world out there. I want to be daddy's girl forever. I dont want to grow up.

So that affected my physics paper today. Actually in all, prelims were bad. I'd imagine myself being more prepared. I am thoroughly disappointed. I dont even know how to comfort myself anymore.

I am tired. 2 more months to clear this. I am doubting all the time. Somebody help me.

Guys, I think there's a higher chance of me failing Math as compared to History. Today I learnt that I need to sleep. I felt like a zombie throughout the entire paper. Came home and crashed. 4 hours straight of sleep.Studying chem now, need to finish this well. And then it'll be Physics/History Weekend! *nerd.
Gaaaah, Dream School is down the drain, by the looks of it.

Dear Blog,

  1. I am temporarily locking you. I am sorry, but your attention seeking days are over. I feel like I need to put down all my thoughts here. Times are hard, my dreams are too big and I am too small to get anywhere near. The Main Questions beg to be answered and it is overwhelming. These thoughts, they come, and when they go, maybe what's left of them would be comfortable for the world to see. Until then.
  2. I feel like I'm i fragmented into pieces. I never feel enough for anyone. I leave pieces of myself everywhere, with you, you, you, and you. I am nothing neither of you make me out to be. That is why I am never going to be good enough for you. Thoughts of C keeps coming back to haunt me. Maybe since then I learnt how not to give everything to one person, because disappointments always come and they always hurt. There is not one day that goes by where I still think "if you were still here, I'd tell you about this". Broken people should never meet each other. I gave you everything yet we were self destructive and we should have known.
  3. Prelims are here. And honestly I was discouraged by the Physics paper. I have so much at stake and so much I hoped to have done. I dont really want to go on anymore. Everything is out of control and I had never wanted to find myself here right now, but here I am. Maybe I'm just not meant for it.
  4. I want to talk to You. Sometimes I feel like talking to you is like talking to Him. I wonder what has happened in between. Why have I grown complacent and proud that my dependence on Him seem no longer neccessary? Help me learn. Help me commit.
  5. Commitment. We talked about this yesterday and how our lives should be lived in a way that reflects out commitment to God. Yesterday night I made a promise on how I no longer want to be involved in M anymore. Because I should live for eternity. I also know how M has seeped into my life. It has easily taken over because I've always wanted to feel whole. And when M is around for that moment, I am able to feel like that could be a possibility, that there would be someone out there that is really able to make me feel complete. If this is Your test God, give me your Grace that will get me through this.
  6. Funny how everything's always a cycle. You'd never see me and I'd probably never see you. Are we designed this way? How long will we keep going until someone gives up and settles? Why do you keep walking in and out.
  7. I really need to study. But I am becoming more of an emotional mess everyday, and I need this space to keep things straight. I need to think coherently and set things in order. I will be okay. I need to not screw this up for myself.

My thoughts are dismantled and I am confused. I am going to sleep now and wake up in 4 hours. Chemistry to finish and history to read. I need to survive Prelims.

You (again)
By chelsee ivan

You dont know what you do to me. I was content with what we(never) had until the end (the silence). But then you'd always comfortably find your way to the corners of  my days, taking up pockets of my time (I so willingly gave). I (think I) held you closer than I should have. I felt too much when you gave so little (enough). I counted my blessings because I've had you (behind your walls, under your layers) and that sufficed. Yet your words (are melodious), you gaze (is breathtaking) and your smile (speaks volumes) haunt me.

I dont know what you've done to me. (You've given me the words I never thought I had, along with the heart I've given up to the past. My blood runs wild at mention of your name; my heart beats stronger. I write the words I hope you'd read. I climb mountains just so you might see me. I go the distances to watch you from afar. I've become more than who I ever was.)

I think, you (our story) destroy (inspires) me.

________
written at 3 am last night. didnt have the guts to post this somewhere else. so here it will stay. funny how the words seem to come only when you draw near.

Funny how your words today stirred up some feelings within me. I guess all these times trying to fit in didnt really work after all. Im just wondering, who are you blaming? Me or the Guy Upstairs? I am getting through this stronger.

On the other hand, had a good hour nap and am feeling very productive and happy. I think I just wrote one of my better essays today in GP. 3 sides +++ within the time limit. If only I'd have this kind of mojo during the prelims for History as well. I am working on it.

Tonight I will finish integration, transition metals and Japan economy.

My space bar is not working well. I am also very hungry. Should I go ahead and finish my last packet of  KoloMee? Hmmm.

Everyone is growing up so fast. High heels, make up and cars are all they talk about. But for me, Im just looking for some sense of certainty. You see, I am happy. But i'll be happier if I could answer my History questions and solve my Mathematics. I am a geek like that.

Until then (if ever), the make up and high heels can wait. Until then, I'm just giving it my best shot.

These feelings, they fluctuate. I need to keep myself down and around.

Psalms 25:  Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart has multiplied; free me from my anguish. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in You.

Yesterday, things were bad. I had everything all well planned but nothing turned out right, everything turned out to scheme against me. I knew I had no control and then flashes of the "bigger picture" that was falling into pieces just continuously appeared in my mind. At the back of my mind came the question "What did I do or not do for You to leave me behind?". I felt so helpless and I couldnt talk to anyone, I was at the verge of tears the entire night.

But today was definitely better. Despite waking up and vomiting dark green phlegm, everything became more pleasant. I couldn't believe it at all when I found my cards, I was really convinced that they were gone forever. Apparently not. I literally held my breath when it fell out of my diary. "Thank you God, Sorry." were the first words I muttered. Looking back at yesterday's faithlessness and doubt, I realised how small I have been spiritually. I need to do something about this. This morning's chapel worship was awesome. Alicia and I sang. Usually nobody sings so I feel so awkward when I do it, but now I have a worship buddy. But more importantly, I learnt from chapel that nothing will realise until surrender and make space for God.

So space I will make. I think I will fast (refrain) from

  • Facebook
  • Sweet Drinks
  • Overeating/overspending on food (3 dollars a day)
  • Naps (this is going to be so hard)
Because He is sufficient enough for me. And I only seek to glorify Him. Help me do this.

Books over boobs.
So during the holidays, I picked up books again! I remember the days when I'd go to the library every week and bring a few home and be happy through out the week. No wonder I've been a lost soul wandering recently.

My first time reading Lee Child, it was okay. It wasn't mind-blowingly intense or anything, but good enough to make me finish the entire thing. The main character in the book was highly amusing though. I liked how the book injected a sense of "controversy" to the whole Cold War era and hinted that what we know today about the actions of the Americans are just what they want us to know, though the story didnt center on this point. Kept me occupied for a good week.

And then some time after Child I went to get this from Borders, I was supposed to hunt down the Roald Dahl Collection but I couldn't find it, and I couldnt afford the book anyway, so I decided to settle on one of the modern classics. Less than 5 bucks for every one of them! I almost got Gabriel García Márquez's  A100 years of solitude, which I regret now, but settled for this instead. Somehow, the fact that Helen's character, a wife whom had fled from her abusive husband was really intriguing, i don't know why. I'm not done with this (I've barely started), so I'll tell you about it soon!

Lo and behold! I visited the 2nd-hand bookstore today and left with this! Excited! Seriously, Roald Dahl is not a children's author. Everyone should read him. This man is amazing, all his stories are different and his characters are always vividly portrayed. I'd like more than anything to win the Golden Ticket to his imagination, i bet it'll be more fantastic than any Chocolate Factory. (haha.) I'm too afraid to read the book too quickly because then the magic will just end. (Maybe then I'll have an excuse to go back and get Skins also.)

Speaking about endings, Harry Potter VII comes out next week. I really cannot wait and I am prepared to sob and cry when they roll the credits. I mean, Hogwarts has been my dream school since I first picked up the first book and I've always had a geeky crush on Ron and Dumbledore (occasionally), and this movie is really the last. Sigh, we grow up too fast.

My Week's of mugging kind of failed. I did go through a bit of physics and chemistry and one chapter of math. I guess my emotions got the better of me this last week. 6 more weeks to prelims. I can do this.

2011+5= 1,2,3,4,5.... 2016
Today I learnt that everything will be okay. Because I have the more important things in life. I have God, I have a supportive family, and I have the most amazing bunch of people as my friends.

I had a fun night. Here are the more glam pictures:

They say IJ Friends will be friends for life, and I really want to attend your weddings. So I'm crossing my fingers hoping that 2016, we'd still be in the same McDonalds getting high on green tea and "clubbing".

another day

And now there has been too much thinking, and not enough doing. A 4 Year Course in Britain costs around $170k, which is a tremendous amount of money that is impossible to fork out because it's more than fortune when converted into Ringgit. What do I have to do? Life is already telling me how my Dreams are too big for me. I'm not even close.

AND I lost my pullover, my comfy pullover. I left it somewhere in Dhoby Ghaut, thus the launch of Operation Find Pullover. I need to find it back. I really want to have it back. Please give it back to me. Please please please.

Today just isn't my day.

Nianci's willpower 1, Procratination 0

It's only the second day of school and I'm already tired. But hello there, term 3.

Everything is gearing up with speed. I cleaned my room yesterday and my desk is finally conducive for studying. My mind wanders less now, which is a blessing. Also, the papers from the mid-year exams are flooding in and generally I feel okay. The grades aren't great, but I think they reflect the fight i've put up and I personally feel that this MYE, i did put up a good fight. So, working on the prelims now, looking forward to term 3 and the quiet time I can spend studying. Good good good.

Now I have a clean room (i cannot keep reiterating the hygiene level of my room, i am proud), and I have the motivation to study. I shouldn't be asking for more, but I just have one more thing I'd like to work on this term as well. I've been struggling a lot with this issue this term and going back to school and meeting people has made me realise that how much I need to do this for myself. I dont know how I am going to approach this but from now onwards i will make changes, and i will make it happen. I am doing this for myself. One term, we'll see where I'll go.

I feel like i need to write everything down. Because I know that the journey ahead would just zoom by and I'd like to remember everything. The people are beautiful, the view along this Way i am headed towards is breathtaking. I am going to be happy.

Mountains she climbed.
So before the June Holidays, I came up with a checklist:
  • AC Model United Nations
  • Y-Challenge Camp
  • Study for the SATs and do as well as possible.
  • Cover JC1 topics and enjoy doing it.
  • Clean up room: Throw away unwanted stuff, Organise cupboard, Give away clothes.
  • Go Home and Be Happy.
  • Write my Graduation Certificate statements.
  • Check Out Universities and Courses.
  • Read Roald Dahl and articles on UN and ASEAN.
  • Organise my iTunes.
  • Find the Songs for the Study Playlist.
  • Rest enough to last the rest of the year.
  • Go to the museum.
  • Find you closer. (this became totally irrelevant)

so the June holidays were good. Now we need to make the next 4 months count. Good luck, Nianci.

Yup, I'm taking the SATs. I dont actually know why, but I'd still want to do well. 4 days to study and then it's back to the Alvels again. Yes, this holidays will be so productive!
